COME ON DOWN! GOOD PLANS SHAPE GOOD DECISIONS.

Coastal Oregonians and friends, this Saturday, April 30th there is a Preparedness Fair taking place at Sunset Middle School from 9am ~ 3pm in the gym. There are numerous agencies who will be in attendance with relevant information for all us coastal dwellers in the event of a catastrophe on the scale of the Japanese tragedy. Participants include local Police and Fire departments, Coos County Emergency Management, US Coast Guard, Oregon Dept. of Geology to name a few. A special section of the information flyer says, "In addition to learning about how to manage an emergency event, representatives from Shelf Reliance will be on site to address issues surrounding home food storage and how to properly prepare foods for long term storage."

In the aftermath of such a situation like Japan, we here in Coos Bay would need 4-6 weeks of food to sustain ourselves before we would move up on the rescue priority list! 4-6 weeks!!! I know I have that much, but how about you? We will have a Fair special package of 3 months of basic freeze dried and dehydrated foods at a discounted price. We will also have freeze dried food samples, emergency items such as personal water filters and 72 hour kits to see and to order. Come by and say hello. If you are prepared, you need not fear.

You know it's not a matter of IF, it's a matter of WHEN!

Bloggin: Not a Daily Thing!

I really meant to be more conscientious about this blog. I wanted it to chronicle my growth and learning as I embarked on my new business with Shelf Reliance. I envisioned hoards of followers and lots of comments. I wanted it to be instructional as well as entertaining. It would be a good way of keeping a journal. Of sorts.

Well, I'm as undisciplined here as I am with my filing system.

What can I tell, ya? I have a disease and it as to do with organization. It won't let me put anything back in it's original place. So everything gets a new spot, everything takes it's turn being lost and found and I feel defeated and unable to function efficiently.

That's as much of the story as you really need. I'm not a 'bear it all to the world' type of girl. But I am going to update you on my Shelf Reliance team volume. Cuz it's good news and deserves a brag or two. So far this month I have personal sales of over $6k! Team sales at about $1500. I am $2500 from advancing in rank from Mentor to Director. No wonder I'm not bloggin all the time! Holy Cow I'm workin' it! This week is quiet but builds to a huge weekend. I hope my team can help me reach my goal. I'm counting on it. And even though bloggin isn't my daily thing, Shelf Reliance IS! I can't wait til I'm bringing home a full time wage on part time effort! Then you're talking FREEDOM!

In the meantime, I vow to walk/jog 5 miles a day this week. ( my next blog title just may be, 'Exercise: Not my daily thing'!

A NEW ATTITUDE

It's really just fresh food in a different state! All the taste, the shape, the nutrients, the color ~ all the same and ready to be used in your favorite recipes in exactly the same way! The only difference is that it is actually EASIER to use than fresh! It's pre-selected at it's peak of ripeness, pre-washed, pre-chopped and packaged for long life. Perfect for your home store shelves. Run out of bell pepper? (You know how quickly they turn in the crisper!). Now you have peppers at your fingertips no matter what the season. Celery turned to rubber? Never again with THRIVE diced freeze dried celery. Started to bake cookies and discover there are no eggs? I've got at least 236 in my #10 can. AND I can eat the dough without fear of salmonella. If that doesn't convince you to get on board with this movement, I don't know what will! I just received my first order of Freeze dried vanilla yogurt. Oh my my. Yummy goodness with a great crunch, quick to rehydrate with some freeze dried strawberries, bananas and raspberries to make an extraordinary dessert. It really is your favorite food redefined! You can order easily at DorieSmith.shelfreliance.com or email me via this blog or my email at doriedoo@hotmail.com

IT'S A CRIME & A CRYING SHAME

40% of the U.S. corn crop was used to make ethanol fuel. Burning food is insanity, especially as humans starve as the corn needed to fill one 20 gallon gas tank of one vehicle is enough to feed one person for a year.
